Thermal deer detection

Field Operations

Trained, licensed professional operators conduct pre-operational checks and safety briefings before deploying to the field. Operations are then carried out safely and ethically at night in accordance with approved procedures, client requirements and relevant legislation.

Night field operation

Thermal Detection & Intelligence

Thermal optics, drones and field intelligence assist with detection and recovery of target animals as well as operational site security and safe program delivery.

Recovery and reporting

Recovery & Harvesting

Where appropriate and authorised, VPAC supports the recovery and harvesting of deer for delivery to approved processors. This reduces waste left onsite and helps turn deer from a management problem into a useful resource. Purpose-built harvest vehicles and recovery systems assist with safe, efficient recovery of target animals and biological material from operational areas, supporting site cleanliness and project efficiency.

Data collection and reporting

Data Collection & Reporting

Species data, operational outcomes, observations, DNA capture and stakeholder survey data are recorded throughout each program (where requested) to support transparent reporting, client updates, compliance requirements and future management planning.

Resource Recovery

From Project to Pet Food

Where project conditions, approvals and logistics allow, VPAC supports the recovery and harvesting of deer for delivery to our approved processor.

This approach helps reduce carcass waste left onsite, supports cleaner project areas and allows harvested deer to be used as a practical resource within the local pet food supply chain.

Not every control program is suitable for harvesting, but VPAC considers recovery options during planning wherever they can be safely, legally and practically achieved.
